This year we will be continuing with our Forest School sessions one day a week for our Preschool children.
Our aim to encourage and inspire all children through positive outdoor experiences.
We believe that Forest Schools allow children to build relationships, understand and appreciate our local environment. It allows children to learn new skills, build confidence, self-esteem and independence whilst enjoying the benefits of fresh air and the outdoors.
Forest School sessions will take place in ALL weathers – come rain or shine – throughout the seasons.
Children will be provided with appropriate outer clothing so that they can fully and comfortably participate in their activities, the aim is to have fun whilst staying dry and warm!
We are fortunate to be able to access local woodland areas such as Stannah, providing us with the wonderful natural resources in which our forest school activities flourish.
In addition to our Forest School leader- Linzi Thompson assessing risks with all activities, the children are encouraged to identify potential risks and to suggest ways to stay safe whilst playing and working in the woods.
The funding for our Forest School project will be provided from 50% nursery budget and 50% parent’s contribution. This will cover extra staffing costs and transport to and from the Forest. A letter with costs will be sent out shortly.
Each week the sessions follow the same format so that the children know what to expect and what is expected from them. Here is an example:
All children will take back an item they have made or created. This is the link with home and nursery to create positive communication.
We hope you’re all excited as we are, we cant wait to get started with this project
We will be having a FREE taster session this AM for all Preschool attending this mornings session. If you would like your child to participate then please ensure they are dressed appropriately.
