30 Hours Funding
At Poppy & Jack’s we understand that childcare is an extra cost that isn’t always easy to cover on your own, but we believe that every child should have the opportunity to be part of our family. Where they can learn and develop at their own pace, experience their own adventures and make friends for life. So please have a look at the government funding available for 2, 3 and 4 year olds. 15 & 30 Hours Free Childcare
The term after your child turns 3 we can apply for free childcare for your child. All children can access 15 hours funding and working parents are able to access 30 hours funding.
Free Hours For Your 2 Year Old
Some parents can access free childcare from the age of 2. If you earn less than £15,400 a year get in touch and we can help you apply for your free hours
‘Apply for a government childcare account to benefit from tax free childcare. This works out at a 20% discount on your fees which is up to £2,000 a year saving. You can get both 30 hours free childcare and tax free childcare.
Help with childcare (Universal Credits)
You may be able to claim back up to 85% of your childcare costs if you’re eligible for Universal Credit. You (and your partner if you live with them) will usually need to either:
- be working – it does not matter how many hours you or your partner work
- have a job offer
The most you can get back each month is:
- £646 for one child
- £1108 for 2 or more children

You can get 30 hours free childcare if you and your partner are in work and earning at least the National Minimum Wage or Living Wage for 16 hours a week.
You’ll be entitled to up to 30 hours of funded childcare a week (1,140 hours per year).
If you’re eligible for the funding you’ll receive the 30 hours from the start of the term after your child turns 3 years old.
The first term after your child turns 3 years old, you’ll be eligible for the funding. Make sure that you apply early to ensure you have the code before the term starts, you can apply for your code up to 16 weeks before your child’s third birthday.
Go to https://www.gov.uk/apply-30-hours-free-childcare and fill out all your information. After you’ve submitted your details, you will receive a code, which you will give to us so we can set up your funded hours.
Yes, you will be sent a reminder after three months you will have to confirm you’re still eligible for the funding.
